WOOD CHARACTERISTICS
Iroko (Hardwood)
Iroko is a species of roko hardwood found in Western Africa. it has a yellow-brown to brown colouring, deepening to dark brown with light exposure. The grain is interlocked and sometimes has an irregular grain with a fairly coarse but even texture . The timber is very durable and has a wide range of uses, typically interior and exterior joinery, boat building and decking.
Sapele (Hardwood)
Sapele wood is very durable and has many characteristics that resemble Mahogany, most notably in the colour of its heartwood. Golden to dark reddish brown in colour which darkens with age if not treated with finishing oils/stain.
English Oak (Hardwood)
Oak has been a favourite wood for many hundreds of years, with over 200 species to be found. It has an attractive, open grain which makes it a popular choice for furniture. Because of it's grain, which can resemble the contours found in fingerprints, it is also used extensively for veneers. Oak is dense, heavy and hard-wearing, making them ideal for use as barrier posts in high traffic exterior locations. Oak are especially noted for their resistance to stains and scratches.
PLEASE NOTE
Timber is a natural product and subject to the effect of atmospheric conditions, this causes timber to expand and contract which may cause size variations and some surface checking.
Posts are treated with industry leading oil from Osmo. Exterior timbers turn grey or silver over time as a result of exposure to the sun and rain. Osmo UV Extra is a high-quality oil that protects against the greying effect of the sun's UV rays on exterior wood by a factor of 12. It offers superb durability against weathering with an added biocide to combat insect attack and fungal growth. Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra dries to a satin-matt finish that will not peel, flake or blister.
